TC 283: Letters to My Future Self

TC 283: Letters to My Future Self

Ever wish you could talk to your future self? Can you imagine what your life will be in the future, in a month, a year, ten years? In this episode host Robin Masiewicz and her guest Amy Frost discuss writing letters to your future self.

Amy describes how she came across the book “Letters to My Future Self” which is sort of a diary in the form of letter addressed to your self, recently featured as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things for 2015.

The book contains the following 12 letter prompts:

  1. These are my roots…
  2. Where I want to go…
  3. All the things I’d like to try someday…
  4. This is what I live for…
  5. It was an extraordinary day…
  6. I promise to myself…
  7. There’s no place like home…
  8. A pep talk for the future me…
  9. This is a letter about my love…
  10. I never want to forget this…
  11. [Blank – write your own]
  12. [Blank – write your own]

Apparently writing letters to yourself is not a new concept:

In the video below, psychologist Dan Gilbert talks about the Psychology of our Future Selfs.

The end of the current year and the beginning of the next is often a time for reflection. Where do you see yourself in the future? How will you get there? What steps must you take? Can your intuition help you see what things will be like in the future?

I got a lot out of the show myself while listening to it. I look forward to implement the tools more and more in 2016. Love the frame work around the pod cast!!!!
